We are delighted to announce details of a forthcoming exhibition, to be held at our gallery from the 3rd - 25th November 2005 as part of this year’s Asian Art in London events. It will include a varied and eclectic selection of Buddhist and Hindu sculpture and other works of art from India, China and Southeast Asia. We will be offering about twenty works of art, mainly sculpture, with our usual emphasis on dramatic, slightly unusual pieces. The highlights of this year’s offerings are a superb bronze head of Buddha Sakyamuni from Thailand’s Sukhothai period, a remarkable stucco figure of a Buddhist monk from Song dynasty China and an exquisite Gandhara stucco Buddha head. We also have a pair of teakwood standing Buddhas from Laos, each some seven feet (2.1 metres) in height, a Chinese boxwood Budei and a fabulous 18th century export coverlet, also from China. Antonia and I plan to spend some time in Asia in 2006 to give our children some exposure to its wonderful culture. The gallery will be open normally with our friend and former Spink colleague Jane Thurston-Hoskins helping out.For more information about our exhibition, please telephone 020 7839 3414 or e-mail jonathantucker1@aol.com or antoniatozer@aol.com. | |
